News from the Hotel Greulich
On Monday, February 8, we have again the Hotel Greulich in Zurich to attend a voluntary basis before the 1st of May, the Federal-smoking law comes into force. As of this date, the hotel is Greulich for cigar smokers to duty, equipping the only (?) With the new law, the cigar lounge. According to various press reports seem to Zurich hosts first wait for the summer to do and then we have all got used to the new law, smoking in the pepper country provided that it is not to be burned. For permits for smoking, which may be indeed be served until now overtaken by the farmers and hoteliers virtually none!
Greulich But back to our Cigar meeting at the hotel: burns During our visit to the cigar lounge already the wood in the fireplace. Fast are our cigars lit, and ordered the drinks. The lounge will be operated from the bar. The bartender eklärt us that the lounge on the 1st of May still get a door. And from the fall, the tables will be reserved for cigar smokers, but registration is recommended. Also it is planned to set up a humidor in the lounge. Until now there is a small humidor vis-à-vis the reception integrated inconspicuously into the wall.
we notice immediately that the cedar-lined wall with nothing new to the cigar lounge is a portrait painting. From a distance it seems Karl Marx (not Groucho) to list as hair, beard and pose Marx-are typical. Pascal doubt a bit of it. He finds the narrow gold frame was not typical. And in fact, viewed from near Sigi and I look, it's not Marx, but the name of the hotel, Herman Greulich (the house is at the Herman-Greulich-Strasse). The political right direction however. Herman Greulich in 1842 in what is now Wroclaw, Poland and died in 1925 in Zurich. He is regarded as labor leader and champion for the Swiss women's suffrage.
